DSWD not spared by critics over distribution of relief goods
DISTRIBUTION of relief goods by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in different barangays of Dagupan City continued but not without criticisms.
Th critics complained that the DSWD is distributing relief packs only to those that present claim stubs, and not to all flood victims.
Both Barangay Captains Filipina de los Santos of Malued and Macmac Gutierrez of Poblacion Oeste confirmed that DSWD did not coordinate the plan before making the distribution, and, therefore had no participation in the process.
Among the common complaints were distribution of only one relief pack per household regardless of number of families in the house, and DSWD still interviews and asks recipients to sign after giving the goods, not understanding the accounting and auditing process.
The barangays also distributed their own separate relief goods to their constituents.

Wastes clog drainage canals in some Dagupan’s streets
IMPROPER disposal of wastes contributed largely to the slow recession of floodwaters in Dagupan City notwithstanding efforts of the city engineering office to clear the Pantal River of water lilies.
Some residents evidently never stopped their bad habit of disposing their wastes down the drainage canals.
In the commercial center of Dagupan, vendors found it more convenient to dispose of their wastes down drainage canals instead of placing these in waste receptacles regularly picked up by personnel of the city’s Waste Management Division.
