Mangaldan town placed under State of Calamity
THE town of Mangaldan has been placed under State of Calamity (SoC) on Thursday afternoon, August 03, following a special session held by the Sangguniang Bayan there.
Councilor Aldrin Soriano, in an interview, said the SB passed Resolution No. 2023-199, declaring the town under a state of calamity.
Twenty-one of thirty barangays recorded floods of varying degrees that caused extensive damage to agriculture and affecting thousands of individuals.
The Municipal Agriculture Office, initially reported P8,424,220 damage to palay and high value crops.
SoC, price freeze will be enforced. There will be no increases in prices of prime commodities, i.e., household LPG and kerosene, construction materials, flour, fruits, other condiments aside from salt, and construction materials; .basic necessities, i.e., food, drugs classified as essential by the Department of Health.
Violators may face prison time and fine of not more than P1 million.
The Mangaldan MSWDO and MDRRMO recorded some 2,469 families from 21 barangays affected during the typhoon and flooding. (Ahikam Pasion)
