DSWD provides assistance to 300 destroyed houses in Dagupan

SOME 300 houses that were destroyed when a powerful tornado struck Dagupan in the afternoon on July 25 will be rehabilitated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its housing assistance program.

In an interview last August 5, Mayor Belen Fernandez said she was assured by DSWD Field Office 1 Regional  Director Angela Gopalan of the assistance.

The city government already completed the documentation of the damaged houses: 198 were partially destroyed and 27 were totally destroyed.

Dagupan was the first local government in the region that submitted complete documentation, including names of owners.

The DSWD will give P15,000 to each of the 27 totally destroyed houses and P9,000 to each of the 198 partially destroyed houses.

Of the 27 totally destroyed houses, 19 are from Pantal and eight are from Poblacion Oeste.

The partially destroyed houses are in Bacayao Norte, Bacayao Sur, Barangay 1, Bolosan, Bonuan Binloc, Bonuan Gueset, Calmay, Carael, Caranglaan,Lasip Grande, Lomboy, Lucao, Malued, Mamalingling, Pantal, Poblacion Oeste, Pogo Grande, Pugaro, Salapingao and Tambac. (Leonardo Micua)
