DOH Region 1: 7 die from leptospirosis
LOCAL health authorities are watching for leptospirosis cases after seven deaths were recorded out of 45 cases in the region from January 1 to date compared to only 28 cases last year.
Among the fatalities were three in Pangasinan.
According to the Department of Health-Center for Health Development I (DOH-CHD), the data OF infected persons did not include patients who were infected due to exposure to flooding in August, particularly cases in Dagupan City.
Dr. Rheuel Bobis, Medical Officer III of the DOH-CHD 1 said the other fatalities were three in La Union and one in Ilocos Norte.
Bobis urged individuals to immediately consult a doctor when symptoms of leptospirosis, i.e., high fever, discoloration of urine, jaundice, and body aches, are experienced. (Ahikam Pasion)
