City government workers unite, seeking passage of annual budget
REGULAR employees of the Dagupan City government who have been denied of their salary increase under the fourth and last tranche of the Salary Standardization Law (SSL) for the last seven months, joined the calls to the Sangguniang Panlungsod to pass the long overdue 2023 annual budget.
The call was echoed by Julius Alcaide, Administrative Officer III of the City Treasurer’s Office, who posted his own appeal on Facebook, to the executive and legislative, particularly the majority in the SP, to unite and now pass the long delayed 2023 annual budget, an appeal that was welcomed by his co-workers at city hall based on their reactions.
Records show that there are more than 700 regular employees in the Dagupan City government whose salary increase under the fourth tranche of the SSL could not be paid.
In a talk to The PUNCH on Thursday, Alcaide said regular employees and the retirees of the Dagupan City government are already considering filing cases before the Ombudsman a complaint and the DILG.
He said the SSL (R.A. No. 11466) authorizes the grant of salary increase of government workers in the national agencies and the local government offices, adding that in the entire country, Dagupan is now the only local government unit that has not implemented this law.
(Leonardo Micua)
