No state of calamity recommended for Mangaldan

THE municipality of Mangaldan was still not placed under a state of calamity as of Friday, July 28, despite the wide extent of damages brought about by ‘Egay’ and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

This was bared by Councilor Aldrin Soriano who said the MDRRMO and the Mayor’s Office, have not forwarded any recommendation since estimate of damages were not finished.

According to the municipal agriculturist’s latest report, as of July 28 6a.m., damage in town’s agriculture reached P5.9 million.

“Handa naman po ang Sangguniang Bayan na tumugon para mag-declare ng state of calamity”, said Soriano.

Seriously affected barangays were Navaluan, Anolid, Banaoang, Landas, Buenlag, and Palua where 103 families were evacuated.

Two elementary schools affected were Anolid Elementary school’s 17 classrooms and eight classrooms in Navaluan Elementary School, damaging modules, electric fans, and other documents. (Ahikam Pasion)
