7 guns-for-hire gangs neutralized in Pangasinan
WITH the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) just three months away, members of seven guns-for-hire groups surrendered to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office since May to date.
P/Capt. Renan de la Cruz, information officer of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, told IFM Radio Dagupan that the surrender of the identified crime groups is a welcome development as it will help ensure peace in the province during BSKE.
De la Cruz called on other identified groups of guns-for-hire and criminal gangs to surrender and avail of cash assistance to help them start their income-generating projects in their communities, together with their families.

P8 million damaged in Asingan school fire
THE damage caused by the fire that gutted eight classrooms inside a school building of the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) in Asingan town last week reached P8 million.
F/Chief Inspector Ronaldo Perez, provincial fire marshal, said the initial investigation showed residents near the school smelled burnt rice, which supported the theory that it was what it caused firefighters found burnt rice among the wreckage.

Road clearing on in Bayambang
THE Road Clearing Task Force of Bayambang town warned residents anew of installing structures that obstruct roads and sidewalks after Mayor Nina Jose Quiambao ordered the clearing national, provincial and municipal roads.
The task force has so far implemented road clearing of obstacles on Quezon Boulevard, Del Pilar Street, Bayambang-Basista Road, and roads in Barangays Tamara and Nalsian Sur including sidewalks.

Training on first aid to persons experiencing heat stroke
THE Dagupan City government’s El Niño Task Force conducted training on first aid in responding to people suffering from heat stroke among barangay residents after the high heat index experienced daily last year caused by the El Niño phenomenon.
Mayor Belen Fernandez formed the task force to help mitigate the adverse effects of the long dry spell in the city.
The basic instruction shared is to make a person suffering from hear stroke lie down with raised feet, use cold compress on him or her, and let the patient drink water.
The City Health Office reminded residents to drink from eight to 10 glasses of water to avoid getting dehydrated.

‘End Drowning Now’ program launched in San Nicolas
THE municipality of San Nicolas launched a program called “End Drowning Now” program in observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month and help, attain the status of a “Drowning-Free Municipality”.
The program was launched after a number of drowning incidents were reported in the town’s rivers.
Different activities were conducted by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for the “End Downing Program” at the barangay level.
