Only 1 of 12 illegal fish pens along Angalacan river remains
AN unrelenting dismantling of illegal fish pens along the Angalacan River in Mangaldan on order of Mayor Bonafe Parayno resulted in only one remaining to date.
And that will go as well in a few days after the owner completes its harvest.
Parayno said owners of the 12 illegal fish pens cooperated with the local government in an effort to make the Angalacan River an eco-tourism site in Mangaldan.
Mayor Parayno ordered a thorough clean up Angalacan River as a prelude to converting it into an eco-tourism site after all the illegal fish pens in the area are gone.

Traffic gets worse in Dagupan due to drainage construction
MOTORISTS and commuters moving in, out and around Dagupan City know that the construction of bigger drainage system along A.B. Fernandez Avenue and Arellano Street is now at its peak. How? Traffic through the area has worsened.
The situation is compounded when it rains hard during high tide.
The Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) estimated that traffic build up along Arellano and A.B. Fernandez Avenue has been up by 70% since.
A far worse traffic situation is expected when the elevation of both lanes begin.

46 double registrants purged in Comelec list
DAGUPAN City Comelec office reported that 46 voters were recently purged from the official list of voters in Dagupan City for being double registrants.
According to Atty. Michael Franks Sarmiento, city elections registrar, the 46 voters that registered twice in different places were discovered following the conduct of cleansing and clearing of the election registration board with the use of Automatic Fingerprints Identification System.
He said a person is considered a double registrant are usually those registered in areas outside Dagupan then come home to Dagupan, he registers as voter without applying for the cancellation of his old registration.
He said the names of the double registrants will soon be posted by his office.

Number of Dengue cases in Pangasinan lesser – PHO
DENGUE cases in Pangasinan dropped by 19 percent from January to June 26 this year compared to the same period last year.
Dr. Cielo Almoite, provincial health officer, attributed the decrease to the continuing campaign of her office along with Rural Health Units, against dengue.
She said the early consultation in health centers by people who felt initial symptoms of dengue helped reduce the number of cases this year.
Dr. Almoite said an intensified information campaign against dengue will continue until all cities and towns in the dengue watchlist, namely, San Carlos City, Urdaneta City, Calasiao, Malasiqui, Binmaley, Umingan, Bayambang, Balungao, Sta. Barbara, Manaoag, and Mangaldan are cleared.

Prices of onion, garlic continue to spike in province
THE price per kilo of onion and garlic continues to increase in Pangasinan, according to the market price survey of IFM Radio Dagupan.
To date, the price per kilo of both white and red onion at the Malimgas Public Market is P150 to P170 per kilo, up by P20 per kilo from P140 to P150 per kilo.
Meanwhile, the price of garlic is P140 to P150 per kilo.
The price of potato also increased from P650 last week to P850 per kilo.

Thunderstorms, hazard to river travelers
COMMUTER boat operators operating through Dagupan rivers lament that they are getting less passengers in the afternoon because they realize that traveling in the middle of thunderstorms is risky.
Commuter boats are serving residents of island barangays of Dagupan, namely Lomboy, Salapingao, Pugaro, Calmay and Carael. However, Calmay and Carael are connected to the town of Binmaley.
