BSKE: 386 classrooms as polling centers in Dagupan
THE Dagupan City Elections Office completed its inspection of 90 percent of the 386 school rooms in Dagupan set to be used as polling centers in the coming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in October.
City Elections Officer Michael Franks Sarmiento said the designated polling centers are now ready for the BSKE. He, however, said that because the 386 school rooms are still not enough, the offices of school principals as well as libraries will still be used as polling centers.
Some 141,000 registered voters will go to the polls all over Dagupan City to elect their officials during the BSKE and training of members of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) who will guide the voters during the Election Day, is ongoing.

Termites feed on 6 Mangaldan classrooms
SIX classrooms at the Maasin Elementary School in Mangaldan town are set for demolition after their foundation were weakened by termites.
Teachers were alarmed by the decision to demolish the classrooms because there are no replacements for the six classrooms set for demolition after their wooden posts were found to have been eaten by termites.
They appealed to the Department of Education to construct six replacement classrooms to ensure that classes of pupils will not be disrupted.

1,000 candidates expected in BSKE in Dagupan
THE City Elections Office estimated there will be more than 1,000 candidates who will file their certificates of candidacy for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections from 31 barangays in Dagupan City.
Atty. Michael Franks Sarmiento, city elections officer, based his estimate that there will be at least two opposing teams filing their COCs per barangay.
He believes that there will be more candidates aspiring to run in the coming BSKEs because of the extension of the tenure of current barangay and SK officials.

100 persons from Rosales scammed
SOME 100 persons in Rosales complained to the police of being victimized by operators of an investment scam.
P/Capt. Renan de la Cruz, information officer of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, said the victims are considering to file criminal cases against the identified scammers.
De la Cruz warned the public not to fall for “easy money” schemes and always remember that “if it’s too good to be true, it is a scam”.

New tourism slogan back in Pangasinan
THE Pangasinan Tourism Office has expressed its support to the new tourism slogan “Love the Philippines” launched the Department of Tourism headed by Secretary Kristine Garcia-Frasco.
Maria Luisa Elduayan, provincial tourism officer, said the new tourism slogan is not actually new in Pangasinan because this was used too by the province in the past.
She expressed hope that the new tourism campaign will attract more tourists and promote business investments
Elduayan said that as far as Pangasinan is concerned, it will soon launch provincial museum and souvenir shops to help enhance local heritage.
