Trike drivers warned of onslaught of leptospirosis 

THE City Health Office warned tricycle drivers in Dagupan about the need to take extra safety measures to protect themselves from leptospirosis, a disease prevalent during the rainy season, especially when streets are flooded.

The warning came from barangay officials, noting that tricycle drivers to commute  passengers through flooded streets.

CHO advised tricycle drivers to wear protective gears like rain boots and rain coats and take prophylaxis medicine if they wade in murky floodwaters that could be infected with urine of rats.

 Manaoag’s Balay Silangan set to welcome second batch of reformists

 MAYOR Jeremy Agerico Rosario of Manaoag said the town’s Balay Silangan is set to accommodate the second batch of drug reformists in its fold after the graduation of the  first batch from three months of residential training.

Rosario, a doctor by profession, said the first batch consisted of 12 men and women,  underwent training on value formation, character-building and livelihood training at the Balay Silangan for three months.

This reformists were involved in the illegal drugs trade as pushers and voluntarily surrendered to the police.

Manaoag’s Balay Silangan can only accommodate 14 persons at one time.

The mayor said the second batch of reformists will enter the Balay Silangan by the end of June or first week of July.

LGUs are required by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to put up their respective Balay Silangans in order to speed up the transition of their drug-affected drug-free status.
