Dagupan, tops MR-OPIA vax campaign – DOH
DAGUPAN CITY topped the nationwide Measles-Rubella Oral Polio Immunization Supplementation Activity in Pangasinan after covering some 18,000 children (59 months old and below) that were targeted for vaccination and immunization in Dagupan under the Tsiketeng Ligtas, a MR-OPIA program.
This was announced by DOH Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco and congratulated Mayor Belen Fernandez and the Dagupan City Health Office headed by Dr. Ophelia Rivera for succeeding in administering Measles and Rubella (MR) vaccination by 101 percent of target, and 98.44 percent in Oral Polio Immunization Activity (OPIA), as of June 8.
Pangasinan registered 88.43 percent in Measles-Rubella vaccination and 81.6 percent in Oral Polio immunization.
Dr. Sydiongco lauded Mayor Fernandez for accompanying CHO teams in conducting house-to-house vaccination even on Saturdays that enabled Dagupan achieve more than 100 percent of its target by June 15.
Mayor Fernandez said the feat of Dagupan as the leading LGU in Pangasinan for the implementation of the MR-OPIA could not have been achieved if not for the valuable help of the Barangay Health Workers.
“Kahit zero ang ibinigay na budget ng pitong majority in the Sangguniang Panlungsod sa inyo, you are still there working to ensure that the people in the barangays will have better health,” she added. (Leonardo Micua)
