DEPRIVED of funding for her infrastructure projects following the deliberate deletion of the 20 percent development fund in the approved 2023 annual city budget by the 7-majority councilors, Mayor Belen Fernandez is forced to source funds from national government officials and agencies so Dagupan City can implement some major projects of her administration.

The DPWH is implementing the ongoing widening of drainage at the perennially-flooded traffic intersection of A.B. Fernandez Avenue, Arellano Street and M.H. del Pilar Street then the DPWH will upgrade the roads to a height of approximately one meter at most or above the usual flood level.

The DPWH is also widening and retrofitting, of the two-lane Dawel Bridge to make it a four-lane if not six-lane bridge.

There is also the ongoing construction of the road and drainage system at Sitio Sugpo Extension going to St. Michael Subdivision in Bonuan Gueset, courtesy of Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia.

Senator Francis Tolentino is funding DPWH’s roadwork at Don Jose Calimlim Street (formerly Callejon Street) in Barangay Pogo Chico while a boardwalk and a bike lane, the first of their kind in Dagupan, will be built along Jose de Venecia Expressway Extension, courtesy of Senator Jinggoy Estrada.

Also expected to be built is an amphitheater for the One Bonuan, composed of Bonuan Gueset, Bonuan Binloc and Bonuan Boquig, committed by Senator Riza Hontiveros.

When she came to Dagupan, Senator Aimee Marcos already left P5 million to be used by the Belen Fernandez administration in buying one freezer truck to be used by farmer producers in transporting Dagupan bangus for sale in Manila and also for export. (Leonardo Micua)
