MISUSE OF CASH CARDS

SOME beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Calasiao town are currently suspended after the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) caught them pawning their cash cards.

A recent spot check on the beneficiaries’ cash cards, showed 45 beneficiaries pawned their cards.

Worse, when asked why they cannot produce their cash cards, they lied and simply said these were misplaced and went missing.

Michael John Ubungen, DSWD Field Office 1 Municipal Link for Calasiao, said the erring beneficiaries will be unable to withdraw their monthly stipend for misusing their benefit and beneficiaries who had records of pawning their cash cards in the past will also be investigated.

He warned beneficiaries that pawning or misusing their cash cards will promptly lead to the suspension of their privileges as 4Ps beneficiaries.

The 4Ps is a conditional cash transfer program by the Philippine government, aimed to helping and uplifting the Filipino children’s conditions by doling out funds to assist in their education and nutrition. (Ahikam Pasion)
