TOFF DE V’S LEGACY FOR BIKERS

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) revealed its plan to connect the Tondaligan Boardwalk in Dagupan City to the San Fabian Boardwalk in Bolasi, San Fabian. to make it as the longest bikers’ route by the sea in Pangasinan.

Alex Villanueva, engineer III of DPWH Region 1, revealed this when he called on Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia in Dagupan, where he said this was about to be started in 2020 and could have been completed by now had it not been for the pandemic.

Villanueva reported that Phases 1 and 2 of both boardwalks comprising 8.377 kilometers were already completed in 2018 and 2019, respectively, but continuation of these projects was snagged because of the pandemic.

De Venecia, who initiated the construction of both boardwalks to spur tourism in Dagupan City and San Fabian and develop biking as a seaside sports, was told connecting the two boardwalks will be completed sometime late this year.

Aside from serving as a permanent bikers’ route, the Tondaligan to Bolasi boardwalk could be an attraction to joggers, skimboarders and tourists. (Leonardo Micua)
