THE provincial government has increased the meal allowance of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Pangasinan provincial jail from P70 per day to P100 per day.

Governor Ramon Guico III announced this in his State of the Province Address (SOPA) before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in Lingayen.

While P70 per day is the standard meal allowance of PDLs in all jails throughout the country, the governor expressed hope that the P30 increase will help improve the life of PDLs in the provincial jail.

No provincial administrations in Pangasinan in recent years increased the daily meal allowance of PDLs.

Meanwhile, the provincial jail which is located on the same row with the Lingayen Municipal Hall and the Casa Real, is set to be relocated under Guico’s administration.

Guico has ordered the Provincial Housing Urban Coordinating Development Office to prepare an inventory of all land assets of the provincial government to find the most suitable location for a detention facility. (Leonardo Micua)
