Calasiao logs higher dengue cases this year
THE Municipal Health Office (MHO) of Calasiao recorded higher number of dengue cases this year.
In its recent log posted Tuesday, April 11, the town already recorded 35 cases from January 01 to April 08 this year, 14 cases higher (January to March recorded seven cases each) than last year’s 21 cases.
Ages range from five to nine years old had the greatest number of cases at six, followed by 15 to 19 years old and one to four years old, with four cases each category.
Out of the 21 cases, 12 were male, while the remaining nine were female.
Barangays Ambonao, Talibaew, Cabilocaan, and San Miguel are in the town’s watchlist, along with nine other barangays due to recorded dengue cases.
Barangay Ambonao logged five cases, Barangay Talibaew had three, while Cabilocaan and San Miguel had two cases each. Barangays Nalsian, Longos, Buenlag, Bued, Quesban, Banaoang, Poblacion East, Macabito and Nagsaing, all had one case each.
Dengue is a viral infection that spreads from mosquitoes to people. While higher cases have been recorded on wet seasons, experts have warned that Dengue is a perennial disease, and that individuals may catch it even during dry season. (Ahikam Pasion)
