MINIMUM HEALTH PROTOCOLS BACK

BE ready to present your COVID-19 vaccination card as this might be required by establishments anew in weeks ahead after Pangasinan, was placed under Alert Level 1 status by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) from April 14 to 30.

Dr. Anna De Guzman, provincial health officer, told The PUNCH in an interview Wednesday that Pangasinan will begin to observe the minimum health protocols being imposed by the IATF under Alert Level 1 although local health authorities are wondering why the province was included in the alert when Pangasinan only has few cases.

“Probably because the IATF is anticipating a possible increase of COVID cases due to the long holiday,” she said.

She added that people should understand if public and private establishments begin to ask persons entering their premises to present their vaccination card.

De Guzman said Gov. Ramon Guico III is set to meet local health officers on the pronouncement of the local IATF’s Level 1 status.

To counter a possible spike, De Guzman is encouraging people to consciously follow health protocols like wearing face mask at all times, whether indoor or outdoor, including inside public transport as she reminded employees to complete their booster shots.

She advised persons feeling some symptoms of COVID to immediately observe self-isolation and undergo confirmation test.

Meanwhile, PHO’s April 25, 2023 COVID-19 monitoring report showed one new case was confirmed, three new recovered (one in Pangasinan and two in Dagupan), one new deaths (Pangasinan) and 11 active cases of which nine are from different areas in the province while two are in Dagupan City.

The areas in PHOs watchlist are Malasiqui and Dagupan City for having two active COVID cases each and one case each in Agno, Calasiao, Labrador, Rosales, San Carlos City, San Quintin and Umingan.

For her part, Dr. Ophelia Rivera, city health officer of Dagupan City, also reiterated urged residents to continue wearing face masks especially in crowded areas and in indoor activities. (Eva Visperas)
