Prospective SK candidates told to consult Comelec
THE City Elections Office in Dagupan called on prospective candidates intending to run in the coming simultaneous Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in October 2023 to visit its office to know more about the qualifications of candidates.
Atty. Michael Franks Sarmiento, city election officer, said the prospective candidates should know what can lead to their disqualifications and learn about election offenses they should avoid.
According to Sarmiento, in the last SK elections, many candidates were disqualified because they were overaged while others were not registered voters in their towns.
He cited the SK Reform Law that prohibits the candidacy of anyone if they are related to second degree of consanguinity to incumbent officials of barangay, city, municipal, provincial, regional or national level which is consistent with the Anti-Dynasty provision of the SK Reform Law.
