Animal medical mission on
THE Provincial Veterinary Office has started conducting an extensive medical mission for animals in the province as part of the Rabies Awareness Month this month of March, as provided for in the Anti-Rabies Act 2007.
Highlights of the medical mission for pets include deworming, castration and the giving of vitamin supplementation to pets, like cats and dogs.
Acting Provincial Veterinarian Jovito Tabarejos urges all Pangasinenses to take advantage of the animal medical mission so that their animal pets to make sure that their pets are safe from any kind of diseases, including rabies. (Jhon Caranto)

Barangay bans hanging of clothes near road side
AN ordinance is now in effect in Barangay Herrera-Perez in Dagupan City prohibiting any of its residents from hanging wet clothes on clothes lines visible to passers by. The ordinance was enacted by Herrero-Perez barangay council headed by Kapitana Salvacion Bravo.
“Pinagbabawal ng ordinansa na magsampay o magsabit at maglagay ng bagay na nakakasira sa paningin sa lugar o kalsada na nadadaanan ng mga tao at sasakyan,” Bravo said.
She told IFM Dagupan that clothes being dried in the clothes line are unsightly to passers-by and motorists and should be discouraged in the barangay, and she had no difficulty enforcing the ordinance because even households in the village agree with the objective – keep beauty, peace and orderliness in the barangay. Flood control project underway in Sta. Maria
Construction of a flood control project that seeks to reduce floods in in Sta. Maria town, particularly in Brgy. Samon, and provide residents, particularly pupils and students, a safer road to walk on, has started.
The project is an initiative of 6th District Rep. Marlyn Primicias-Agabas, in coordination with Sta. Maria local government. (Rona Racca)

Tayug gets newly paved road from DPWH
THE Department of Public Works and Highways recently turned over to Tayug local government the completed cemented road that connects Purok 2 and Purok 4 in Barangay Panganiban to Barangay Toketec.
The project, funded by the national government through the initiative of Mayor Tyrone Agahas, provides farmers the convenience to easily transport their agricultural products to the town market. With the cemented road, trade and commerce will be accelerated and Tayug will retain its hold as the trading center of eastern Pangasinan. (Joana de Vera)

San Carlos barangay animal health workers trained
A TRAINING seminar on animal care was held in San Carlos City, organized by the Office of City Veterinarian.
Mayor Julier Resuello approved the training seminars to familiarize members of the Barangay Animal Health Workers with their tasks in protecting animals and their health in their respective communities.
The activity included lectures on Gender Awareness and Sensitivity, duties and functions of Barangay Animal Health Workers, Rabies Act 2007, Animal Welfare Act, and Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines. ( Jhon Caranto)

Basista CVOs receive amelioration fund
MEMBERS of Civilian Volunteer Organization or Barangay Tanod of Basista received their social amelioration benefits of P1,000 each from the provincial government, in recognition for their work and sacrifice in helping maintain peace and order in their respective communities, especially during the time of the pandemic.

Buntis Congress held in Dagupan City
HUNDREDS of pregnant women in Dagupan City received free medical service from the city government during the Buntis Congress held in coordination with the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society Region 1, Northwestern Luzon Chapter, Pangasinan Medical Society, Inner Wheel Club of Uptown Dagupan District 379. as part of the celebration of the National Women’s Month.
Among the services included pre-natal check-up, free ultrasound, urinalysis and other medical services that due them. A breast and cervical cancer screening, breast Examination & visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) was conducted for the non-pregnant women.
Mayor Belen Fernandez said the City Health Office provided these free medical services to ensure that the health of pregnant women and their babies are protected. (Joana de Vera)

Vehicular accidents dropped in Sta Barbara in February
THE number of vehicular accidents recorded in Sta. Barbara in the month of February dropped significantly compared to data last January.
This was revealed by Jasper Christian Manuel, unit head of the Emergency Response Team of Sta. Barbara MDRRMO, who told IFM Dagupan that only 20 incidents were recorded in February compared to 34 in January. He said constant reminders about safe traveling in the town by MDRRMO in social media helped decrease incidents of vehicular accidents.

Symposium on sexuality, fertility, HIV/AIDS held in Alcala
SOME 600 students from two schools in Alcala participated in a symposium that discussed Adolescent Sexuality, Fertility and HIV/AIDS Awareness as part of the observance of the Women’s Month this month of March.
Students of Pindangan National High School and Macayo Integrated School attended the symposium conducted by the Alcala local government with other government agencies aimed at increasing the awareness of the youth on how to protect themselves when confronted by problems relating to sexuality that may lead to unwanted pregnancy or even exposure to HIV/AIDS
The forum was organized jointly by the Municipal Health Office, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and Municipal Population Office, Provincial Population Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office. (Jhon Caranto)
