PDRRMO urges residents to be first grassfire responders
THE Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) called on residents of Pangasinan to take extra measures in their areas to prevent grassfires.
PDRRMO Chief Rhodyn Oro said grassfires are becoming rampant because of the dry months and need collective solutions not only from responders but from residents, too.
He said unless a grassfire is contained, it will not quickly turn into a full blown fire that will result in damages to lives and properties.
Oro cited recent grassfires that already happened in Bonuan, Dagupan City; Brgy. Malico, San Nicolas; Lingayen, Calasiao and other areas that may have been caused by the hot weather.
The ideal first responders in grassfires should be the community residents who should help each other put off the blaze even before firemen arrive with their fire engines (Jhon Caranto )
