Asingan, Villasis get new firetrucks
TO further boost fire responses in towns and cities, the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) national headquarters distributed brand new firetrucks to the towns of Asingan and Villasis and 72 others in the country.
DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos said priority has been given the 74 LGUs that have been using old firetrucks, or have no firetrucks to use.
BFP-National Office records show on average, more than 600 fire incidents occur every year and with the delivery of the new firetrucks,. the average number would definitely decrease once more firetrucks are engaged in fire prevention campaigns.
Meanwhile, Asingan Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. said the DILG’s gift to his LGU is a welcome surprise, as his request was immediately granted.
“Noong December lang kami nag-file ng request para sa firetruck, binigyan kami agad”, said Lopez.
Each firetruck can store up to 3,800 liters of water or 1,000 gallons.
The firetrucks are set to arrive in the LGUs before March in line with the celebration of the Fire Prevention March. (Ahikam Pasion)
