Bani public market fire burns 400 stalls

UP to 400 stalls were reduced to ashes in a fire that gutted the Bani Public Market at 9:00 p.m. on December 29.

As a result of the blaze, 238 vendors lost their livelihood with almost nothing saved from their stalls.

Gov. Ramon Guico III motored to Bani the following day to look into the plight of the displaced vendors.

Guico met Bani Mayor Facundo Palafox to map out plans on how to provide makeshift stalls so the affected vendors can continue their livelihood for the short term and the construction of  a new public market of the town.

Bayambang holds Seminar-Workshop on CLJIP

THE Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Bayambang organized a Training-Workshop on December 27 to review the town’s Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Plan (CLJIP).

This activity was in compliance with Rule 18 of the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 9344, better known as an Act Strengthening the Juvenile Justice System in the Philippines (as amended).

This Act mandates the formulation of CLJIP and of a Local Juvenile Intervention Program   by LGUs from the barangay to the provincial level for the next three years in order to effectively address the concerns of ‘children-at-risk ‘(CAR) and ‘children in conflict with the law’ (CICL).

Held at the Balon Bayambang Events Center on December 27 and 28, it had for its resource speaker Jocelyn P. Mariano, team leader of the Secretariat of the Region I Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC) and discussed how to prepare Local Juvenile Intervention Program using a JJWC guide. LGU hosts Ecumenical Youth Camp

MORE than 170 teens joined the two-day Ecumenical Youth Camp held at Sison Stadia on December 27-28.

This activity was organized by the Sison local government led by Mayor Danilo Uy, in collaboration with churches of different religious denominations.

The ecumenical youth camp sought to inspire participants to seek the right path and deepen their faith on God.

The participants thanked the resource speakers, namely Rev. Fr. Cirilo Mayugba, Ptr. Jansen Balao, Rev. Ismael Cabason who shared their time and knowledge in moulding them to travel on the right path.

Inland fishpond owners receive 91,000 tilapia fingerlings 

THE San Nicolas local government distributed some 91,000 tilapia fingerlings sourced from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 1.

Recipients of the fingerlings were 39 inland fishpond owners who completed their training on tilapia culture and management.

The inland fishpond owners are expected to increase yields from their ponds through  proper administering oestock to feeding ratios for efficient grow-out and better profit.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Agriculture Office cited the importance of promoting new strategies and modern technology to help boost the harvest of the inland fishpond owners and increase their income.
