Early warning bells for barangays, schools

THE Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Bayambang  town completed the distribution of early warning bells to all 55 public schools and 77 barangays in the town on January 9.

The 9-inch iron brass warning bells will enable schools and barangays alert students and residents to prepare for expected emergency and ensure that every Bayambangueno is safe in any fortuitous event.

At the same time, MDRRMO continues to train barangay folks and school population on how to prepare in times of disaster and to implement. (Helen de la Cruz, UdD)

Agno River Rehabilitation in Bayambang continues

THE Agno River Rehabilitation Project’s planting bamboo propagules in banks of the river in 36 barangays of Bayambang to stabilize and strengthen the Agno River banks to protect them from floods, erosion and landslides, continues.

According to Genevieve Benebe, MDRRMO officer and Agno River Rehabilitation: Bamboo Project focal person, the town officials and barangay officials proceeded to Barangay Carungay last January 11 to monitor and inspect the town’s bamboo plantations.

The MDRRMO also recently distributed 500 kilos of rice provided by Gov. Ramon Guico III,  to the volunteers who provided services to the townspeople when the Carlos P. Romulo Bridge linking Bayambang to Camiling, Tarlac collapsed on October 20 until a temporary bailey bridge was built at the site on November 8, 2022. (Helen de la Cruz, UdD)

27k fresh water prawns dispersed in Aguilar river

SOME 27,000 fingerlings of fresh water prawns were disbursed in Aguilar’s tributaries by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) provincial office based in Dagupan City Office.

The dispersal was made in coordination with the Municipal Agriculturist Evelyn Valeroso and Josephine Fernandez, Agriculturist II.

Valeroso said the dispersal was part of the BFAR program to restore the vitality of some water bodies in the town of Aguilar. And provide sources of additional food for the people.

The fingerlings will mature after four months. (Marione Cancino, UdD)

Free range chicken distributed to fight malnutrition

THE Sison local government distributed free range chicken to residents with malnourished children to raise and provide them a steady supply of food in a few months.

Daniel Uy, Senior administrative assistant in the office of Mayor Danilo Uy, distributed the chicken as part of the local government’s program to fight poverty and to reduce the number of malnourished children in the town.

Distributed were one rooster and three hens to each of the program beneficiaries.

The distribution, a program of the Municipal Nutrition Council and in collaboration with the Municipal Agriculture Office to reduce if not end malnutrition in the town, was led by Edmundo Quinit, Jr. , Municipal Nutrition Action Officer/OIC-LDRRMO, and Marivic Dacpano, OIC-Municipal Agriculture Officer.  (Marione Cancino, UdD)
