By January 30, 2023Inside News

VICE Mayor Kevin Roy Macanlalay was sworn in as the new mayor of Calasiao following the demise of Mayor Mamilyn “Maya” Caramat early this month.

Also sworn in as new vice mayor was Nestor Gabrillo who garnered the highest number of votes among all eight municipal councilors in the last May 9, 2022 election.

The oathtaking of the two officials was officiated by Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Marilou Geslani.

Geslani said Vice Mayor Macanlalay becomes the automatic mayor and head of the executive department of Calasiao with the demise of Mayor Caramat by operation of law, while Councilor Gabrillo became the vice mayor and head of the legislative department of the town as presiding officer of the Sangguniang Bayan.

The people of Calasiao are hoping that the new mayor and vice mayor will continue the programs and projects of late Mayor Caramat.

Meanwhile, DILG has not designated anyone to take over the position vacated by Councilor Gabrillo. (104.7 IFM Dagupan/Jhon Caranto)
