Trained man on first-aid saves man’s life
THANKS to his training in first aid, a man vacationing from Abra province saved an unconscious employee of Urdaneta city government from near death after he was retrieved from the San Fabian beach water.
The instant hero was identified as Edson Villalobos, an emergency medical technician, who came forward to help revive Ramil Bolloso, 31, soon as he was brought to shore by his companions.
By promptly applying CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) method, the unconscious Bolloso was revived and rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center annex in Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City,
A report said Bolloso was under the influence of liquor when he went out to swim in the beach with his companions.
Meanwhile, two men drowned in the Angalacan River in Mangaldan on December 10.
According to the local police, Romnick Macam, 29, and his uncle, Rodrigo Bautista, 48, both of Barangay Macayug, Mangaldan appeared to be drunk when they went to swim in the river at about 6:20 p.m.
Witnesses Joan Quinto, 23, and Gebelyn Barrozo, 20, both of Barangay Nibaliw in Mangaldan, said when Macam reached the middle part of the river, he disappeared. Seeing this, Bautista rushed to his rescue but he drowned as well.
A rescue operation conducted by the Mangaldan Police and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office first retrieved Macam but he was declared dead on arrival when he was brought to the Municipal Health Office.
Bautista, who was first declared as missing, was later found dead too, the police reported. (Leonardo Micua)
