Prov’l government, 17 LGUs receive SGLG awards

THE Pangasinan provincial government was again honored with a Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for the year 2021 under the Espino administration. The award was received by Governor Ramon Guico III .

The SGLG, a flagship program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), gives due recognition to outstanding performance in the field of governance by Local Government Units.

Other awardees are Aguilar, Alcala, Anda, Balungao, Basista, Bugallon, Burgos, Lingayen, Malasiqui, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Manuel, San Quintin, Sta. Maria, Sto. Tomas, Urbiztondo at Villasis, and the component cities of Alaminos and San Carlos. (Joana de Vera)

Guico distributes social amelioration benefit in 5th District

GOVERNOR Ramon Guico III presided over the distribution of P2,000 cash as amelioration benefit to Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) and Child Development Workers (CDWs) in the Fifth District at the Binalonan Gymnasium.

Guico assured the beneficiaries that the amelioration fund, appropriated last week by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, will be increased in 2023.

At the same time, the governor said he is amenable to the designation of a medical-patient navigator for each barangay from the provincial hospitals of the province whose main duty is to coordinate PhilHealth coverage of the residents with local governments. He reminded residents not insured with PhilHealth to register for the Konsulta Program.  (Joana de Vera)

16 small fishermen get insurance claims from PCIC

SIXTEEN small fishermen from Dagupan City received their insurance claims from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) with the help of the Dagupan City government.

Each of the affected fishermen received from P3,045 to P19,480, depending on their reported losses. Mayor Belen Fernandez handed the checks to claimants.

City Agriculture Office Officer-In-Charge Patrick Dizon, said the claimants were fishermen from Barangays Bonuan Gueset and Pugaro affected by isolated fish kills who reported their losses to his office in October. All the 16 small fishermen own fish cages with permits issued by LGU Dagupan.

PPPO’s Pabahay ng Pulis turns over one house

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office under P/Colonel Jeff Fanged, provincial director, turned over a house in San Quintin town to a beneficiary under the under the ‘Pabahay ng Pulis program.

Fanged was joined by elements of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company in turning over the house to the family of Edgardo Suezon Corpuz of Brgy. Carayacan, San Quintin. Gift packs were also given by the police to senior citizens of the barangay.

The Pabahay ng Pulis program of the PPPO that seeks to provide permanent housing to still homeless families of members of the Pangasinan police, and the police community outreach program that brings gift to poor families during the Christmas season are ongoing programs.(Rona Racca)

No increase in business permit fee in Mangaldan 

THERE is no truth to rumors that fees for business permits in Mangaldan will be increased next year.

Elma Aquino, Officer-in-Charge at the Business Permits and Licensing Section of LGU Mangaldan, branded the report   as “fake news”.

Mayor Bona Fe de Vera-Parayno earlier said there is no reason to increase the fees and taxes because as the townspeople have just gone through with the pandemic and the fee will continue to be computed based on the declared capital and gross income of the business for the previous year”.  Period for application for business permit is January 3- January 20, 2023. Dagupan to receive 30K flu vaccines

THE Dagupan City will receive 30,000 flu vaccines from the Department of Health to be administered primarily to senior citizens and employees of the Dagupan City government.

City Health Officer, Dr. Ophelia Rivera said if the vaccines will arrive on December 26 and her office will seek to vaccinate 1,000 residents before the year ends. (Ronna Racca)

Symposium on welfare, rights of senior citizens held 

A SYMPOSIUM that discussed the health , safety and welfare of Senior Citizens was held recently in Lingayen sponsored by the provincial government to help promote a program that gives priority to the rights and welfare, including health and safety of senior citizens.

The forum was attended by officers of the Federation of Senior Citizen’s Associations of the Philippines, Office for Senior Citizen’s Affairs Head, and City/Municipal MSWDOs.

Among the issues and updates that were discussed are the social pension and unconditional cash transfer of DSWD, PhilHealth Program/Universal Health Care.

An open forum was conducted afterwards to clarify some issues and concerns. (Rona Racca)

Pangasinenses excited about SIM card registration 

 PANGASINENSE await with bated breath the implementation of SIM card registration set to start on December 27.

Interviewed residents said they can’t wait for SIM registration to start because unless it is done, the spread of fake news will continue, and more residents will be scammed.

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) warned that under the SIM Card Registration Act, anybody who gives false information or presents fake ID for registration of their SIM will be meted six months up to two year of imprisonment and will be fined from P100,000 to P300, 000. Bus companies prepared for swarms of visitors 

ALL terminals of bus companies in Dagupan City were visibly prepared for the departure and arrival of visitors during the holiday season.

Travelers leaving Dagupan have been requested to pre-book their travel by getting advance booking to minimize the hassle of buying tickets amid long queues even as the bus companies assured there are enough buses to accommodate all passengers whether arriving or departing during the holidays.

The bus companies also assured that their drivers and conductors are well rested before driving off on scheduled runs. (Jhon Caranto)
