DA to build rabbit multiplier farm in Alaminos

THE Department of Agriculture’s Livelihood Economic Enterprise Development (LEED) program has chosen the local government of Alaminos City as the recipient of the Rabbit Multiplier Farm (DA).

Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste received a check worth P1,000,000 in behalf of the city from Project Evaluation Officer 1 Ferglen Macaraeg of the Department of Agriculture Regional Office 1 to be used in the program.

The ceremony was witnessed by heads of the City Agriculture Office, City Veterinary Office, and City Treasurer’s Office.

The outbreak of the African Swine Fever that severely affected the local hog industry, plus the COVID-19 pandemic, prompted DA to introduce rabbit raising in a bid to make rabbit meat a healthy alternative to pork, which had become scarce and very prohibitive. (Jovelyn Domingo, UdD)
