THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 1 confirmed that 138 centenarians have pending applications to avail of the P100,000 incentive from their office and explained the delay in the processing of the incentive.

Baby Jane Donado, the Centenarian Focal Person in Region 1, said one of the reasons why some centenarians were not given this amount yet is because the DSWD Central Office has not sent the funds to the DSWD Field Office 1.

There is also the failure of the prospective beneficiaries, aided by their close relatives, to submit all the requirements needed for the expeditious processing of their applications.

Donado said 1,272 centenarians in the region have already received their P100,000 cash grant since this program began in 2016 under Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016. (Ella Garcia)
