WATCH out for rainy evenings beginning October.

Expect the Northeast Monsoon, otherwise known as Hanging Amihan to become active in October, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), as easterlies begin to blow.

Gener Quitlong of the DOST-PAGASA Agno River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Center said the agency may declare the start of amihan on or about the third week this month.

In Pangasinan, the easterlies will result in warm and humid weather, while isolated rains are expected in the late afternoon towards the evening

The easterlies, one of the Philippines’ seasonal winds, and usually herald the entry of the northeast monsoon.

The amihan season, however, usually results in more landfalls of strong typhoons in the southern part of the country.

If no gale warning is issued, fishermen may expect smooth sailing at the seas. (Ahikam Pasion)
