FOR DAY CARE CENTERS

SOME 2,200 pupils of Child Development Centers (Day Care Centers) in Dagupan City will benefit from the 60-day Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 1 (DSWD-FO1).

Mayor Belen Fernandez received on September 6, 2022 the initial delivery of nutritional food items from the DSWD for one month. The second delivery will be made in October.

The SFP complements the mayor’s feeding and nutrition programs for undernourished schoolchildren being implemented by the City Nutrition Office and City Social Welfare and Development.

Each daycare beneficiary will receive two batches of the following items: one pack each of macaroni pasta, whole grain cereal, canned tuna, vegetable oil, all-purpose flour, bihon,  mongo, white beans; two packs of choco rice mongo blend, five pieces of non-fat probiotic drink, three apples, one pear, two kilos of rice, one kilo glutinous rice and eight eggs.

A recipe booklet will be provided parents on the menu to be cooked for their child’s feeding or ‘baon’ in school using the DSWD food items.

DSWD Project Development Officer Charmaine Manaoat said the 60-day feeding program seeks to improve the weight of day care pupils to prevent stunting or undernutrition.

The city government will collate the data, i.e., number of beneficiaries, personal information, master lists, monitoring and evaluation of the children’s height and weight at the end of the program. (Ahikam Pasion)
