THE Mangaldan local government entered into a partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority for the free registration of birth certificates of residents in town who have not registered.

According to Janice Guarin, municipal information officer, the MOA that Mayor Bonafe Prayno signed seeks to strengthen the central identification platform, commonly known as the Philippine Identification System (Philsys), through free mobile birth registration.

Through the MOA, the PSA gave the town 973 free birth registration slots.

Aida Cera, birth registration agent of the Municipal Civil Registrar in town, said Mangaldan is the first LGU in the region to implement the free birth registration program under the PSA Philsys campaign.

All names of registrants will be sent to the PSA Central Office for omnibus certification. This is to avoid the duplication of records.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand Jocutan, supervising statistical specialist of PSA Pangasinan, said the free mobile registration is only for people with no record on either the local civil registry or the PSA database. (Ahikam Pasion)
