Enrollees in Dagupan City low – DepEd

THE Department of Education (DepEd) Dagupan City Schools Division Office (SDO) expressed full preparation for the start of School Year 2022-2023, but the number of enrollees remain below their expectations.

This was the observation of Dr. Aguedo Fernandez, Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd Dagupan SDO.

As of August 8, only 27,000 students have been enrolled in Kindergarten to Senior High School in both public and private schools, compared to 38,000 students in 2021-2022 school year.

Nonetheless, Fernandez was still optimistic that with the final vacation week ending, more enrollees will register this week. “This has been the trend in past,” he said.

Enrollees and parents may enroll the students via face-to-face registration, online, and drop boxes.

Meanwhile, he said the processes and enforcement of health standards in schools do not expect to have any problems over the full face-to-face classes in November – except, perhaps for the possible lack of classrooms.

Physical distancing and other protocols will be enforced, which is why a typical classroom may not accommodate all learners based on usual numbers in the past.

To address this, Fernandez said they are shifting, or utilizing the schools’ covered gyms as alternative classrooms remains an option. (Ahikam Paasion)
