Leptospirosis cases in Pangasinan down 31%
THE Provincial Health Office’s latest data on leptospirosis cases in Pangasinan shows number cases are down by 31 percent.
From January 1 to July 18, only nine cases have been recorded compared to last year’ 13 cases over the same period. No deaths have been recorded.
Data also shows that that more men were infected with leptospirosis, aged 36 to 39 years old.
The PHO is currently watching the towns of Binalonan (2); and Sta. Maria (1) and Bolinao, Binmaley, Mangaldan, Mabini, and San Carlos City that had history of infections in the past.
Meanwhile, rabies cases in the province have decreased by 29%; only five cases were recorded this year, compared to last year’s seven rabies cases.
The towns of Aguilar, San Fabian, Sta. Barbara, Rosales, and the city of San Carlos have been included in the rabies watch list. (Ahikam Pasion)
