Dagupan’s CT-Scan operational by October — CHO

MANY people have already expressed interests in availing of the free CT-Scan machine installed at the Dagupan Diagnostic Center but its operation still cannot be done until full compliance with regulations is completed, including hiring of trained technicians.

Dr. Ophelia Rivera, city heath officer, said the machine still cannot be operated in the next three months in the absence of DOH-trained technicians to operate it and licensed to operate it.

Mayor Belen Fernandez had directed Rivera to immediately comply with the licensing requirements so the diagnostic center can already serve qualified beneficiaries by October.

Rivera said only the use of the x-ray machines at the diagnostic center can be served while the brand new ultra-sound machine and Echo Cardiogram machine may only be operational in two weeks.

At the moment, the City Health Office has one radiology technician that operates the  x-ray machines.

Meanwhile, the contract signed by Mayor Fernandez with the DOH stipulates that it is prohibited to charge patients availing of the services of the Dagupan CT Scan unless there is a city ordinance allowing it.

Rivera also clarified that once the CT-Scan is operational, non-city residents can avail of its services but Dagupeños will have priority. (Leonardo Micua)
