No ‘expired’ vax in Dagupan
THE Dagupan City Health Office (CHO) strongly denied a baseless claim on social media that expired Moderna vaccine was being administered at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome.
Dr. Dalvie Casilang, officer-in-charge of Dagupan CHO, said the vaccination team received the supply of vaccine June 6, 2022 from the Department of Health (DOH) representatives.
“While the original expiry label of Moderna Vaccine Lot #000108A reads 5/23/22 or May 23, 2022, the vaccine lot in question is with an extended shelf life. The property transfer report (PTR) provided by the DOH states that the shelf life of Moderna Vaccine Lot #000108A is extended until July 23, 2022. Thus, the vaccine in issue was not expired when it was administered,” Casilang said.
He said shelf life extension of the vaccine was properly explained to vaccine recipients.
Casilang appealed to the public to be more responsible before sharing unverified information in social media and urged those with related concerns to approach the frontliners at the vaccination site to verify any information.
“Let us avoid the spread of disinformation that diminishes the public’s confidence towards our health department,” he added.
“The City Health Office’s priority is everyone’s well-being. Rest assured, health workers in public service will not put Dagupeños at risk,” he said. (PIA Pangasinan/EMSA)
