THE plan to build a new city hall by the outgoing Lim administration was assured of support by the incoming Fernandez adinistration, as told by newly re-elected Vice Mayor Bryan Kua if the proper process was observed.

This conditional support was affirmed by Kua noting that outgoing Mayor Brian Lim presided the ground breaking rite for the construction of a new city hall three days before the election, following the demolition of the old One-Stop-Shop and part of the left and right wings of the city hall.

“If he (Lim) observed the process, incoming Mayor Belen Fernandez and the  new Sangguniang Panlungsod will support it,” Kua told newsmen.

Asked by newsmen if he and the other officials already saw the plans and design of the project, Kua said the only design what he saw was a perspective of the project printed on a tarpaulin in front of the upcoming structure.

He expressed hope that incoming Mayor Fernandez will study the plan of the project and review it when she begins her new term.

At the same time, Kua admitted that as far as the 2022 annual city budget is concerned, they are still hearing the same and intends to finish and pass it in a few days.

“It’s so happened that the documents submitted by the executive departments were incomplete and we didn’t want to pass an annual city budget with incomplete documents,” he intoned.

He said the money in that new budget is not our money nor the mayor’s money, but it’s the money of the people,”

“That’s why, we want to see this money spent for what they are really intended so that it will not go to waste,” he added.

“We in the SP will extend our utmost help to the new mayor, so she can improve the lives of the people of Dagupan, especially the poor and the senior citizens,” Kua said. (Butch Uka)
