Fisherman rescues pawikan in Alaminos City
A sea turtle, locally known as pawikan, was rescued by fisherman in Alaminos City on Monday, May 16.
Jerry Reate, a fisherman of Barangay Pangapisan in Alaminos City, was checking on a pasabing or fishtrap he had set earlier, when he saw a pawikan trapped inside.
Authorities sent the pawikan, which was about 16×17 inches long. to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in the city.
Reate was commended by Alaminos City Mayor Arth Celeste for his concern for the welfare of the turtle. (Ahikam Pasion)
