THE Dagupan City Police Station assured the city’s voters that strict security measures are in place to ensure a peaceful and orderly election on Monday, May 9.

P/Lt. Colonel Abubakar Mangelen, Dagupan City chief of police, said Camp Crame has granted his request for additional policemen to be deployed in voting centers, particularly in island barangays.

While the city is not listed under Orange Alert, the city police noted that political rivalry is still considered intense and the voting population in the city is big.

Three policemen, instead of the usual two, will be deployed in every school to serve as voting centers.

Further, five policemen, instead of only three, will be sent to each island barangay, i.e., Calmay, Carael, Salapingao, Pugaro, and Lomboy, to oversee the peaceful conduct of the elections.

Meanwhile, police personnel have been ordered to man the border control checkpoints 24/7. (Ahikam Pasion)
