VCMs for Pangasinan arrive
THE 3,339 vote-counting machines (VCMs) that will be used all over Pangasinan in the May 9 national and local elections have arrived last April 15 (Good Friday).
Provincial Elections Supervisor Erickson Oganiza, who supervised in the unloading of the machines from trucks that arrived from Manila, said the testing and sealing of the VCMS will be done in every precinct on May 9 or three days before the balloting.
Included in the shipment were 49 canvassing laptops and 104 Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) that will be used to transmit the votes on May 9, after the closing of precincts.
All the voting equipment were temporarily deposited at the Comelec hubs in Urdaneta City and Dagupan City, manned 24/7 by Comelec, Philippine National Police personnel and volunteers from the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPRCV).
Oganiza said 90 percent of the official ballots to be used already arrived earlier.
Records showed there are 2,096, 936 registered voters in 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan. (Leonardo Micua)
