Fr. Soc: Lies and liars die in time
AIKA ROBREDO’S FAKE SEX VIDEOS
AMID the circulation of a fake videos purporting to feature Aika, daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo, Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas assured her that “lies and liars die in time. Only Truth is forever.”
This was contained in the archbishop’s letter Monday night for Aika Robredo, who became the subject of fake videos about her.
Villegas, a known staunch Robredo supporter, said, “It is incredible that they spread these lies during the Holy Week! The purveyors of these calumnies against you clearly have no sense of the Lord who called Himself the Truth. The disciples of the Prince of Darkness hatched this rotten egg.”
He advised Aika, who has been vigorously campaigning house-to-house for her mom, not to be distracted by the fake videos and advised her to “stay focused on doing what is good and be unperturbed in living by the truth according to the principles your parents planted in you”.
He encouraged her not to let these adversaries dampen her passion for service by matching these with “your greater fire for public service… you are going to be a stronger woman of character after all these have faded away,” he wrote.
He said when he lifts the Host and chalice in all his Masses this Holy Week, “I will also lift you up to the Lord. Smile. Be at peace. Jesus loves you.”
As of 12:00 noon Tuesday, Villegas’ letter to Aika posted on his Facebook page has gained 45,000 reactions, 2,400 comments and 14,000 shares.
Meanwhile, Vice President Robredo’s camp said the alleged Aika sex videos circulating online are a “malicious fabrication” and “distraction”.
“Our supporters should see this for what it is: A distraction. This is a direct and vile response to the momentum we continue to gain,” said spokesperson Barry Gutierrez in a statement on Facebook. (Eva Visperas)
