Candidates reminded vs Holy Week campaign

By April 9, 2022Inside News

THE Commission on Elections (COMELEC) reminded candidates – national and local – to refrain from campaigning during the Holy Week, or face consequences.

Atty. Ericson Oganiza, COMELEC Pangasinan election supervisor, said campaigning April 14 (Maundy Thursday) and April 15 (Good Friday) is banned.

Different forms of campaigning, whether explicit or subtle, such as caravans, motorcade, rallies, speeches, and distribution of campaign materials are included in the list.

Oganiza warned candidates who violate the campaign ban during the period will face election charges, including disqualification or losing the right to vote.

Campaigns may resume on April 16 (Black Saturday).

Meanwhile, the COMELEC in Pangasinan has not yet received any formal election-related complaint among candidates in the province. (Ahikam Pasion)
