Noisy motorcades mark start of local campaign period
THE kick off of local campaign in Pangasinan started smoothly save for some traffic jams in Dagupan City, according to the designated provincial election supervisor of the province.
Lawyer Ericson Oganiza, temporarily assigned in Pangasinan for the May 2022 polls, said their monitoring on the situation across the 44 town and four cities in Pangasinan on the start of local campaign, traffic situation was quite heavy in Dagupan City.
In other areas, like in Mapandan, Urdaneta City, San Carlos City, traffic situations were manageable, he added.
He said that people will have to be patient and put up with 45 days of daily noise from motorcade/caravan of local candidates doing the rounds in the barangays.
Oganiza said supporters should avoid heckling to avoid violence that may ensue between opposing camp/s.
“Candidates must also take the lead in following health standards in their rallies and meetings,” he said. “Handshakes, beso-beso and hugging are still a no-no,” he added.
Meanwhile, Oganiza said under Resolution number 10769, Comelec campaign permit is no longer needed for areas under Alert Level 1 and 2. (Eva Visperas)
