Region’s PNP, AFP, Comelec ready for 2022 elections
THE Ilocos region remains generally peaceful and the police will continue to do its best to keep it that way.
This was stressed by P/Brig, General Emmanuel Peralta during the regional Joint Security Control Center meeting on February 7 at Camp Brig. General Oscar Florendo in San Fernando City, La Union.
The meeting, attended by top police-military officials and the Commission on Elections, discussed preparations for the 2022 national and local elections, the latest assessment and evaluation of election areas of concern, updates on election related incidents and other matters.
“We want to have unified efforts to have a peaceful conduct of the elections, where all voters are safe and secured to make their own choices without intimidation, force, pressure or any violent acts which vitiates their free will,” Peralta said.
He said the whole of Region 1 is currently generally peaceful as he exhorted all his policemen to remain neutral reminding them of their duties and to strictly enforce the law with due diligence.
Meanwhile, the Comelec assured that all government agencies and instrumentalities have been called to support all initiatives in this year’s elections.
Among those who attended the meeting included Brig. General Krishnamurti Mortela, commander of the 702nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army and Comelec officials led by Regional Director Jubirl Somierda. (Leonardo Micua)
