R1MC offers free screening test for cancer
IN observance of the National Cancer Awareness Month, the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) will offer free screening services this month.
Dr. Sharon Sandoval, R1MC’s medical oncologist, said free screening test is part of the advocacy campaign of the R1MC to raise awareness among the public on early detection of cancer and to encourage everyone to take action to lower risks through healthy lifestyle choices.
“Kung mayroon silang mga sintomas gaya ng bukol ay agad silang kumunsulta sa doctor dahil sa cancer, ang pinakamahalaga ay ang early detection,” Sandoval told the ‘Pantongtongan Tayo’ radio program of Philippine Information Agency-Pangasinan.
Sandoval said the center will offer limited but free screening tests for cancer, i.e., pap smear, biopsy, mammogram, abdominal ultrasound, and chest x-ray, and is open to all but cancer patients will be given priority.
To avail the free services, patients must consult first with trusted specialists through the R1MC’s E-Pacheckup and R1MC Out-Patient Department Facebook pages. (PIA Pangasinan)
