Pangasinan Comelec, PNP assure collaboration
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) – Pangasinan and the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) have given their commitment to each other to collaborate to ensure the peaceful and orderly 2022 National and Local Elections (NLE).
Provincial Comelec supervisor lawyer Ericson Oganiza said the poll body will work closely with the Pangasinan PNP as the elections this year face new challenges due to the threat of COVID-19 pandemic.
Oganiza gave his assurance during the flag raising ceremony and 31st Founding Anniversary of the PNP on Monday, February 14 as guest speaker.
The Comelec discussed the latest guidelines for the upcoming polls during the Provincial Joint Peace and Order Security Meeting .
In a separate interview, PPPO director Col. Richmond Tadina said the police provincial command has been reshuffling its personnel to prevent politicians vying for various positions from using their authority over police officers for political gain.
Tadina said there is a new unit at the PPPO that monitors police officers who have relatives running for different local elective positions.
Meanwhile PPPO awarded certificates of commendation to four police officers in the province for their successful anti-criminality operations during the observance of PNP 31st Founding Anniversary.
The awardees were P/Lt. Col. Fidel Junio, P/Ssg. Roel Valerio, P/Maj. Leo Llamas and P/Lt. Elmer Tangalin. (Jerick Pasiliao)
