THE Ilocos Regional Police Office (PRO 1) will start deploying thousands of police officers in Region 1 to ensure safe and orderly conduct of the National and Local Elections (NLE) this year.

In a virtual press conference, P/Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Peralta, PRO 1Director, said 5,314 police personnel will be assigned to different parts of the region.

The biggest number of police officers will be deployed in Pangasinan because of its voting population, the largest in the region.

Peralta said the 2,392 police personnel will be assigned in Pangasinan; 1,300 in Ilocos Sur; 832 in La Union while 790 in the province of Ilocos Norte.

He said final plan for the deployment will include augmentation from the AFP and Philippine Coast Guard. (Jerick Pasiliao)
