Vote-rich Pangasinan is primary campaign destination
EXPECT more aspirants for national positions in the 2022 elections to barnstorm Pangasinan for their campaign because it is the third vote-rich province in the country.
Lawyer Reddy Balarbar, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Region 1 assistant regional director, said Pangasinan logged 2,096,936 registered voters for the May 9, 2022 automated national and local elections making it a favorite campaign destination of national candidates.
Among the 44 towns and four cities of Pangasinan, Dagupan City has the highest number of voters with 138,721, followed by San Carlos City with 126,283; Urdaneta City, 95,971; Malasiqui, 85,815; Bayambang, 83,083; Lingayen, 72, 144; Mangaldan, 67, 912; Calasiao, 66,216; Binmaley, 63, 908 and Alaminos City, 62, 546.
On the other hand, the town with the lowest number of registered voters in Pangasinan is Sto. Tomas with 9,720. However, it was also known for giving solid votes in the past for presidential bets, i.e., for the election of late Ferdinand Marcos and Gloria Arroyo during the incumbency of the late mayor Antonio Villar Jr. who served the town for the longest period.
Other towns in Pangasinan with low number of registered voters are Burgos, 14, 103; Infanta, 17, 534; ; Natividad, 17, 981 and Mabini, 17, 808.
Pangasinan’s Third Congressional District has the highest number of registered voters with 441,956 followed by Fifth District with 352, 414; Second District, 351, 684; Fourth District, 340, 564; Sixth District, 316, 097; and First District, 294, 221.
The number of their registered voters in Region 1 are: La Union, 538, 730; Ilocos Sur, 476, 984; and Ilocos Norte, 434, 114.
In Ilocos Norte, Laoag City has the highest number of registered voters while the towns with the lowest number of registered voters are Carasi with 1,360 only followed by Adams, 2,103 and Dumalneg, 2,067.
In Ilocos Sur, Candon City has the highest number of registered voters with 38,553 while the towns with lowest number of registered voters are Sagay, 2,071; Sugpon, 2,726; G. del Pilar, 3,423 and Lidlidda, 3,601.
In La Union, San Fernando City has the highest number of voters while the towns with lowest number of registered voters are Burgos, 6, 733; San Juan, 9, 587 and Bagulin, 9, 608.
Recently, the team of presidential aspirant Panfilo Lacson and his vice presidential tandem Tito Sotto as well as Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and his running mate. Dr. Willie Ong, have made their initial tours in Pangasinan. (Eva Visperas)

Lopez cited the on-going challenges of the nation and urged the electorate to be more discerning in their choice of leadership this 2022 elections.
He reiterated that electing better qualified leadership with track record and character to prove his/her worth can make a difference in the lives of the country’s long suffering people and its future as a republic.
