SP tells kapitans, SK: No Christmas parties, please
THE Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) urged barangay captains and SK chairmen and presidents in the province to discourage mass events and mass gatherings in celebrating Christmas in their respective barangays.
The resolution, authored by all provincial board members was initiated by ex-officio board member Jinky Zaplan, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay provincial federation, said a possibility of cases spiking anew if the people do not take utmost care and caution.
The measure also took into serious consideration the emergence of the new Omicron variant as more transmittable than any of the past COVID-19 variants, that may be detected in the Philippines soon.
Ex-officio Board Member Jerome Espino, president of the Sangguniang Kabataan provincial federation, said all municipal and city SP chairmen and presidents are united in support of the resolution as the threat posed by the pandemic is still on.
The SP believes that Christmas is a kind of mass event and mass gathering that should be sacrificed to ensure the safety of the people as the threat of the pandemic still lingers. (Leonardo Micua)
