MEMBERS of the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management  of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) will be called back by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to its Question Hour for a briefing on preparations being made to address the expected threat of the Omicron variant, the newest COVID-variant of concern detected.

To be called back to its next session on Monday, December 6, are Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rhodyn Luchinvar Oro, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna de Guzman and Col. Richmond Tadina, police provincial director.

Fourth District Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario, SP chairman on Health, said it is important to know from the local IATF-EID on how ready is the province in meeting the threat of the Omicron variant which was first detected in South Africa and is now spreading in Europe and other parts of Africa.

Rosario said PHO chief Dr. De Guzman should brief the SP on the levels of threats from the Omicron variant and to confirm reports that it can dodge any COVID-19 vaccine already given to the country’s population and for PNP Pangasinan director to update the SP on the status of the border control checkpoints.

Last week, P/Colonel Tadina told the SP that he had converted the border control points as deterrence against crimes while implementing  the minimum health protocols among incoming travelers. (Leonardo Micua)
