FOR PEACE AND ORDER DURING CAMPAIGN PERIOD

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) is set to intensify various law enforcement operations in the province to ensure public peace and order as the 2022 election draws near.

In a Konek Agad sa Alagad ng Batas Facebook live program on Thursday, PPPO director P/Col. Richmond Tadina said the police force in the province will focus initially on checkpoint operations to pre-empt movements of criminals.

In another front, Tadina said the campaign against loose firearms will also be intensified.

He said he expects partisan armed groups to be active during the campaign period leading to election day and to neutralize them, efforts will be focused on the application and implementation of search warrants against groups suspected to be linked with or engaged in providing security to candidates.

Meanwhile, PPPO is waiting for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to provide it the final copy of the list of candidates before determining areas to be declared as “hotspot”.

He said the Comelec list will provide the lead to most likely hotspots in the province, given experiences in previous elections where there were intense political rivalries. (Jerick Pasiliao)
